ESL Teaching Assistants

We are looking for teaching assistants for the following classes. If you are available for one of the slots, please contact Gabrielle Short at [email protected]

Wednesday 10:00-12:00

Friday 10:00-12:00

We are often looking for volunteers, and encourage you to look over the opportunities we can offer:

RIAC offers internships to qualified applicants on a case-by-case basis. If you are interested, please email [email protected] with the following information:
a) A paragraph describing what you hope to gain through this internship
b) A description of any internship requirements/guidelines
c) Your proposed time period and hours per week
c) Your resume
Please place [internship] in the subject line of your email.

Front Desk
RIAC can offer low-intensity (but important!) volunteer assignments at the front desk in our Boston office to volunteers available a few hours a week during business hours. By taking calls and completing small tasks you help our staff be more effective in their work. This is also an avenue to get to know the ins and outs of RIAC, which may lead to other opportunities. Please contact [email protected] with [front-desk] in the subject line of your email.

Occasional Volunteering

In the past, we have been unable to offer volunteer opportunities to those who could not commit to a weekly schedule, or outside of normal business hours. We recently have developed an “as needed” volunteer program that is hopefully going to change this. As opportunities arise, we contact all volunteers who have indicated they are available at that time and interested in the type of opportunity.
Volunteer opportunities may include:
– Transportation (picking up/dropping off donations, transporting clients to/from appointments, assisting with airport pick-ups)
– Help with community events (such as the World Refugee Day block party we held in June)
– Translation assistance
– Assist families with daily tasks (locating grocery stores, using public transportation, etc.)
– Accompany families on fun activities in the area (exploring Boston landmarks, visiting parks and museums, etc.)
– Cultural orientation and English speaking practice
If you are interested, please send the following information to [email protected] with [occasional] in the subject line.
Name, Address, Phone Number, Email
Access to a car/willingness to assist with transportation? If so, how many seats? Do you have car seats for children?
Do you speak any languages other than English?
What days/times are you available to volunteer? We will try not to bother you with requests that do not match your schedule.

Are you a faith-based or community-based group who would like to work with us? We are more than willing to coordinate fundraisers and other events with outside groups. Please contact [email protected] with [group] in the subject line of your email.

Volunteer Coordinator
Are interested in an opportunity to get deeply involved with RIAC? Coordinating volunteers is challenging, rewarding, and one of the opportunities that RIAC would like to seize. If you have time on your hands, and an interest in making this position your own, please contact [email protected] with [coordinating] in the subject line of your email.
