Welcome Basket

When refugees arrive in Boston we like to provide them with a welcome basket of basic household goods necessary for day to day life. This list is a basic outline of what to include in a basket. If you are interested in donating a welcome basket to an arriving family, please email us at riac@riacboston.org or call our Boston office at 617-238-2430.

Supporting Families

If you are interested in making a monetary donation to a family to assist them in this adjustment period (going towards rent payments, groceries, etc.) please e-mail us at riac@riacboston.org or call our Boston office at 617-238-2430. If you are open to making a more general donation which supports our services and programs along with an emergency fund for refugee families, you can do so online through our donation page.

Resettlement

RIAC began its resettlement program in 2001. More than 200 refugees from different countries including Bhutan, Iraq, Congo, Syria, Afghanistan, Burma, Somalia, and Ethiopia are resettled annually by RIAC in greater Boston and Worcester. RIAC’s resettlement is done through its affiliation with Ethiopian Community Development Council (ECDC). ECDC is one of nine national agencies authorized y the Department of State to resettle refugees in the United States.

Refugee
Resettlement

RIAC resettles an average of 200 refugees every year from countries such as Bhutan, Iraq, Congo, Syria, Afghanistan, Burma, Somalia, and Ethiopia and more!

Post Resettlement
Services

Post Resettlement Services help individuals and families with referrals for services, assistance with benefits, social adjustment counseling, interpretation and extended case work.

Community
Counseling

Under the direction of the program’s psychiatrist, a team of licensed social workers provide individual and group counseling services.

After refugee families and individuals arrive in Boston, it often takes some time to adjust and find jobs. They need your support making a new home in Massachusetts.

RIAC is a community-based, non-profit, grassroots human service agency that provides comprehensive services to refugees, asylees, and immigrants. Our services include refugee resettlement, asylee case management, counseling, outreach and education, and other social services.
