The program is designed to promote early self-sufficiency while supporting basic living needs during initial resettlement.

At the Refugee and Immigrant Assistance Center (RIAC), the Refugee Social Services (RSS) program is designed to empower newly arrived refugees and other eligible populations as they rebuild their lives and work toward long-term self-sufficiency.

Refugee School Impact Program

The Refugee School Impact Program at the Refugee and Immigrant Assistance Center (RIAC) supports refugee and immigrant students in achieving academic success and a smooth transition into the U.S. school system. The program is designed to address the unique educational, social, and emotional needs of students as they adapt to a new learning environment.

PEERS Program

The PEERS Program at the Refugee and Immigrant Assistance Center (RIAC) provides mentorship, peer support, and social integration opportunities for refugee and immigrant youth and young adults. The program is designed to help participants build strong relationships, develop leadership skills, and successfully navigate the challenges of adapting to a new community and culture.

Refugee Youth Mentorship (RYM) Program

RIAC’s Refugee Youth Mentoring Program connects refugee and immigrant youth with caring, consistent adult mentors who provide guidance during a critical period of transition. Through one-on-one mentorship, youth receive individualized support to build confidence, strengthen skills, and work toward their educational, career, and personal goals as they navigate life in a new community. This program is designed to meet youth where they are by centering their aspirations, honoring their experiences, and supporting their path toward independence and stability.

Resettlement and Placement Program (R&P)

Reception and Placement Program (R & P): One of the most important activities of RIAC is the resettlement of refugees through its affiliation with the Ethiopian Community Development Council. In accordance with US Department of State guidelines, refugees receive assistance from the day they enter the US. Prior to arrival apartments are located and set up with donated furnishings. RIAC staff provides direct services making referrals for services to ensure access to the health, educational, financial and employment programs they are eligible for.
